Hinglaj Temple (Ambada)

Category Religious

An ancient Hinglaj Temple in India is located in Ambada, Umreth police station area, about 35 km from Chhindwara district headquarters. One temple of Hinglaj Bhawani is in Chhindwara district of India, and another is in Balochistan province of Pakistan, where both Hindus and Muslims come to visit. 112 years ago, in 1907, an English owner of coal mines assigned his workers the task of removing the idol, but despite all the efforts of the laborers, the idol did not move. When the owner went home and slept, Hinglaj Mata appeared in a dream and warned him not to remove the idol. The next morning, the Englishman told this to the laborers and then, ordering them to remove the idol again, went to explore inside the mine with his wife. As soon as the Englishman entered the mine, stones collapsed in the mine, and the Englishman was buried alive. It is said that a strong explosion occurred there that night, and flames erupted. The idol of Hinglaj Mata automatically rose and settled in the forests. After some time, people found the idol of Hinglaj Mata under a tamarind tree in the forests, and then her temple was built here. The fame of Hinglaj Temple has spread far and wide. During Navratri, more than ten thousand devotees visit daily to seek darshan and blessings. Being the only temple of Mata Hinglaj in the country, people from all over the country come to visit the Mother. Apart from Navratri, there is a continuous stream of devotees throughout the year. This temple is famous as Hinglaj Devi Shaktipeeth. According to the Puranas, Devi Sati’s head fell here after being cut by Lord Vishnu’s chakra. Therefore, this place is considered miraculous and divine.
